The International Breastfeeding Symbol

International Breastfeeding Symbol! Look for this symbol when looking for a breastfeeding friendly location.

Businesses that display this symbol make it clear that we (breastfeeding mamas) don't have to hide in the bathroom stall to feed our baby.

Which I refuse to do anyway. I think if a person is uncomfortable with a mother nursing her baby, he/she should look the other way. And if they are still uncomfortable, I will loan them a blanket, they can put it over their head, and go sit in the bathroom. :)

And yes!!! I am still nursing my 14 month old. That alone offends half the population. I might blog about that another day.

Hi! I'm going to put this symbol on my blog! I am a huge breastfeeding supporter! I have 6 children and have breastfed them all. I knew there was a better use for the blanket I carry in the diaper bag...onlookers heads!!! :-)

Yes, how would they like to eat lunch in a gross bathroom with a blanket over their heads!!!

Good for you! I am still nursing my 17 month old and it doesn't look like I'll be stopping real soon. He's a happy little nurser even STILL! Blessings!

No one should have to hide in the bathroom to breastfeed. It's plain ridiculous! When is America going to "get with it"?!

Staci,
Hi, I came across your site from my sister's blog. I love the symbol as well. I nursed my daughter (who is now 5) till she was 18 months old. It was great and such a bonding experience. What a blessing from God. I never hid in the bathrooms, I nursed where ever I was. I think the people who have a problem with it, need to look more at how the young girls are dressing, you see more of them than you do when you are nursing. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

I agree! You can see more skin when you go to the grocery store than when I nurse.
And even for those who don't nurse as discreetly...if people weren't staring, they wouldn't notice.
Jeeeez people...mind your own business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, that is so true about being able to see more skin when you walk into any store! I nursed all my kids past a year and loved it.

Staci,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I will be checking in with your blog as well. Neat our girls have the same name! My husband came up with the name and it so fits her! I went on the website and got the I breastfeed emblem for my blog! Thanks again for sharing, until next time!
God Bless,
Kris

I think it all depends on how the symbol is used. I was at a museum recently where I saw it prominently displayed . . . in the bathroom. They didn't even provide a chair!

You are kidding me. NO WAY!!!!!

I don't know how to react to that one. Are they suggesting that BF is acceptable...in the bathroom? In the stall???

I would have had to rearrange their thinking.

Wow, so that museum is saying feel free to breastfeed- in the bathroom. UGH.

I put the bf symbol as my cell phone wallpaper and I get a lot of comments on it. :)

The world would be certainly be a better place if all moms took time to nurture their kids through breastfeeding. A better nurtured child is likely to have a better nurtured soul because of the love and care the child experiences, and well nurtured souls are just what the world needs.
