Earthquakes, Beads Up The Nose, and Updates Galore..

I apologize for my absence. Much going on around here.. here is a summary:

* We had an earthquake this morning at 4:40am. Not a typical thing here in Northwest Indiana. It shook the house so badly I thought a train was passing by, only we don't live near any train tracks. Of course, the kids slept through it. It was a 5.6, and was centered in southern Illinois. Michelle..did you feel it where you live??

* Savannah has a strange fascination with stuffing small objects up her nose. It started with raisins and cereal.. Sunday she stuffed a small plastic pink bead (the size of a pea) up her nose, and I had to take her to the ER to have it removed. (Thank you St. Anthony's Hospital for your kind treatment!!!)

* We moved!! but not too far. I love our new house... slightly bigger, much newer, more yard (about 2 acres of grass now), and a ranch, no more climbing stairs. Pictures soon, I promise..

* Jeremy started seminary. It is a 3 year distance learning program.. He is unsure of exactly what he wants to do in the ministry, time will tell..

* Jeremy's mom had surgery last Friday to remove cancerous tumors from her kidneys. She is recovering well at home. Jeremy's dad, who also has cancer (multiple myeloma) is currently doing well..

* Midwifery. Hmmm. With preparing the new house, moving, and finishing up the kids home school.. I haven't been doing a whole lot. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do from here on.. I feel like because of attending births, and studying, I'm neglecting things here at home. I'm not being a good mom, not being a good wife, not being a good home school teacher, and not being a a good student midwife. It's hard to do it all.. I honestly feel like midwifery is a calling for me.. maybe just not now. The thought of enrolling in AAMI (Ancient Arts Midwifery Institute) is completely overwhelming. It is impossible to be a "keeper at home"... if you are never home..

Staci,
We felt the earthquake here in Northwest Ohio. We DO live right next to a train track, so I thought that's what it was.
Sounds like you've been busy -Hope everything calms down for you soon!

Glad you blogged. :) And I agree very cute picture!
I am praying that your life calms back down for you a little bit...and I certainly hope that you don't have to take any more trips to the ER with Sav.
Talk to you later.
I love ya!

Hi, It's great that you have more room for your little branches to grow. You're a great mom! I once heard it said that you can have it all, just not all at once. Hang in there, we are all looking forward to having a great midwife to call on.

All of these kind words are so very appreciated, and much undeserved!

We felt it! In fact, we felt another one at 11:14am (edt) or so. Wasn't it weird?

I understand- life gets so busy and overwhelming! I am keeping pretty busy with AAMI and assisting (I usually just do births, not prenatals or postpartums for now). Add to that my MIL, who might have dementia or Alzheimer's, and life in general and it's handful!

And wow, do you ever have a lot going on! I hope your MIL's recovery goes well and best wishes to Jeremy in his endeavors!

We just had our first visit to the ER in quite awhile, my Jeremy fell outside playing and had to get stitches in his leg. He was so brave! I hope that's your last visit to the ER- I'm sure it was fun going in to get that bead extracted.

I hope things calm down a bit for you... praying God guides you in the direction you need to go.

Wow! That's a lot going on! It's a tough choice to know when to pursue your passions. I know I have several things on hold for now, while my kids are so little and in this stage. I keep telling myself "it's only for a few years, I'll have plenty of time when they are grown to pursue this," but it's still tough.

I hope summer brings some relief to your craziness! God bless you!
