Homeschool humor.......

My baby girl is 4 months old this week. Happy birthday angel!!!
I was looking through pictures of Savannah, to put into a baby book, (scrapbook) for her...and I can't believe how much she has grown already. It makes me so happy and sad all at the same time. I really treasure every minute she is small, because I know all too well that it doesn't last long. I just never want to forget.

MY HEALTH KICK!!!!
OK! Today I am officially 100% on a mission to be healthier. I am so sick of this fast-food society! I am so sick of junk food, hot dogs, soda pop, packaged food, chemicals, fast food chains, etc... I don't care if everyone thinks we've officially "lost it" or not!! This country is so full of sick, over-weight or obese, MEDICATED people, that could care less what they eat, what they feed their kids, or where their food comes from. Fine. Eat what you like, it's a free country, but don't be offended if I choose to not eat and live that way. Maybe I have "lost it". Do you know how hard it is to not eat the standard american diet? We have been "trying" to eat healthy for some time now, but now I'm ready. I'm ready to do it 100%. No cheating. Not eating junk "once in a while"..because we all know that once in a while means 6 days a week, 1 day eating right. Most people don't even know what eating right is. It's so sad. Yes, I'm venting!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Ok, I feel better.
Here is something I read today:
A highly respected magazine for kids, once ad-free, is now packed with ads for fast food, candy, sugary cereals, snack cakes, and other products. At a time when nutrition-related health crises plague our nation, and especially our youth, it is unconscionable that this magazine has chosen to cram its pages with ads for meals such as fried chicken fingers with French fries, which provides 590 calories and more than half-a-day's worth of fat and sodium. Junk food ads are clearly a major source of revenue for this magazine and others, in spite of some of the following facts which are not getting enough attention:
Feeding children hot dogs increases their risk of brain cancer by 300%. Strawberry yogurt, fruit punch and other red-looking grocery products are often colored with dead, ground-up cochineal beetles. The ingredient, called "carmine," is made from insects, and is listed on the label of many favorite foods.
Many Florida oranges are actually dipped in an artificial orange dye in order to make them visually appealing; the same dye that's been banned for use in foods because of cancer risk.
Girl Scout cookies are still made with hydrogenated oils that contain trans fatty acids, which are common in foods kids eat, including fried foods like French fries, and in many baked goods (cookies, pastries, crackers, chips, etc.).
Eating just one serving of processed meat each day increases your risk of pancreatic cancer by 67%. How many processed meat sandwiches are eaten daily?

It's stuff like this that motivates me. For my kids sake, I'm going to finally do it! Yeah for me!!!
The latest book I'm reading (on top of a ton of midwifery manuals) is Natural Cures "they" don't want you to know about by Kevin Trudeau
yes, yes, I know, the media hates this guy, and yes I know, he's a "fraud" WHATEVER! the news media is controlled, and "they" don't want you to read or believe him or his book. I believe him, and his book! Because it is soooo true!

Back To School

When Jeremy (DH) suggested we get rid of the television, I was not too excited. How could I function without my morning news show? How could I function without CNN and the weather channel? all day long? NO Hollywood? No cartoons to babysit my kids? How could anyone live like that? Well...we have been without that time-stealing, idiot-box for about 3 years. We do not even own one anymore. It's clearly one of the best decisions Jeremy ever made. I should learn to listen to him more. My children PLAY now. My kids read books now, without being told. My kids imitate what they read, not what they see on TV. BY the way, WE DO NOT DO VIDEO GAMES either. I should clarify...we do have a computer, and the kids are allowed to watch movies, once in a while. Old Tom and Jerry cartoons, Scooby Doo, Bonanza, the Roy Rogers Show, and other oldies, but goodies. We do rent movies. But we skip all of the commercials at the beginning.
I recently found a great website, that puts it all out there...the facts, please check it out!!!

Introducing..... "Sophie"
Just what we need is another pet. We now have 2 black labs, 3 cats (outside barn cats), and "Sophie". The boys adore her. They argue over who's lap she gets to sit on. She does not like to be held, but she loves to sit on your lap. She's very fiesty! I decided against adopting her sister, because she was too passive, and shy. The boys would have scared her to death. Sophie seems to be able to hold her own. Oh..the joys of housebreaking a puppy... she has to stay in the kitchen until she is housebroken. I just can't have accidents all over the rugs. Yuck.

This is my husband Jeremy. He has been bear hunting in northern Minnesota for the last week. He got his bear, had a great time on his vacation, and is safely back at home!

I got this from a blog I read. Thought I would share.

*As a Mom for Modesty I believe in common-sense modesty for girls and young women.
*I believe in refraining from sexualizing our girls and young women.
*I believe that it is unwise and unfair to taunt boys and young men by permitting my daughter(s) to dress in an immodest manner.
*I believe that true beauty comes from within and I strive to teach my daughter(s) this truth.
*I will loyally shop at retailers that provide girls' and young womens clothing that is modest, affordable and stylish.

A hunting he will go...a hunting he will go...

Jeremy left Wednesday night on the much anticipated bear hunt in Minnesota. It is something he and Wayne have been planning for months. They have planned, packed, purchased, planned some more, bought some more, etc..for months. I was not nearly as excited as he was about it. I was happy for him, because I know how much it meant to him, but I am just worried because it is extremely dangerous. He disagrees. "Old grandma's hunt black bears..." he tells me. I will just be relieved when I get the call that he has killed the bear, and will be fishing until he comes home. So, I have to share a photo I took of him the night before he left. This is what I've been dealing with. God, I love him!!!
